What will it BEE?

If you saw my first post, you found out what one of my greatest joys and life is--and, if it's one my greatest joys-- then you are bound to see a lot about it on this little ole blog of mine!

So, it was time to shower another wonderful friend with some new baby LOVE!

What was fun about this shower is that Katy decided NOT to find out the gender of her baby until the little bundle of joy arrives.  So, we went with a BEE theme, because we had to keep wondering, "What will sweet baby BEE?"

Katy's amazing sisters helped us make sure that every detail was perfect!  Amy transported this bee cake from Columbia.  One of her friends created this bee hive that looked and tasted BEE-utiful.  Becky picked up this corsage for Katy to wear.  She filled in the florist and it couldn't have looked any sweeter!

Katy was absolutely GLOWING the entire time!
Here she is opening a few presents.

Now, our friend Cheryl is extremely creative and has proved time and time again that she can turn a pack of diapers into just about anything.  And, this time around, she did not disappoint.  Cheryl wanted to try a little something different so the pack of diapers was transformed into a basket!  Cheryl filled it with products from Burt's BEEs for baby Shepard.

Isn't she talented??  And, what a great gift idea!

Looks like my flash was not in the mood to work here, but you can still make out some of the tissue paper decorations and black/white/yellow snacks that we filled the kitchen with!

As far as what baby Shepard will BEE--we shall know soon enough--maybe even today!

One of my Greatest Joys

There is no doubt about it that one of my greatest joys in life is seeing others experience joy, too.  I love to surprise other people, make them smile and laugh, and have a hand in making their day just a little bit brighter.

Today, I was able to share my love of party planning and entertaining by hosting a baby shower for my sweet friend, Caitlin.  She is expecting her first child very, very, soon.

Caitlin is doing her nursery for baby girl Estie in black, white, and yellow.  So, I took that color theme and ran with it for the shower, too!  Caitlin's mom and sister helped me out so much with this shower!  They are thrilled about their soon to be granddaughter and niece.

I couldn't find much inspiration online- all in one place at least- that didn't involve some other theme so I took ideas as I found them.

I kept thinking about the expression, "When life hands you lemons..."  And, what's a girl to do when life hands her a bag of lemons?

Why, make a centerpiece, of course!

We filled he table with yummy goodies all following the color scheme.  We had yellow corn chips with corn and black bean salsa, chocolate covered pineapples, black and white cupcakes with a Peep on top, squash and yellow peppers with ranch--

--spring time Oreos (yellow filling), deviled eggs, egg salad sandwiches, black and white cookies, lemon squares, Reese cups and to wash it all down, pineapple lemonade!

My gift to  Caitlin was a pack of diapers and some soft blankies put together to look like a cake.  It's only the third one I've ever made, but I sure was proud of it!

Instead of playing lots of typical baby shower games, I planned for a craft that all our guests could participate in.  I saw an idea similar to this on Pinterest where you assign guests a letter to bring for the baby's nursery already decorated.  I altered this a little, got all the craft supplies, and we decorated letters during the shower!

Caitlin loved the idea of having everyone involved and now she'll have the whole alphabet to hang in her nursery however she chooses!

Baby Estie is one lucky little girl!
